Supper club
Last night daughter led us astray with the cocktails so we were a bit jaded this morning. They left at 10.30 as Ella had basketball. It’s nicer for her to watch indoors than #2 daughter’s stint at rugby where she got cold and wet. The boys are in different age groups so she had to do both as Phil was working. She sent a video of Thomas getting tackled just near the line with a whole load of beefy boys on top of him. He emerged unscathed and went on to score later.
It was our turn to host the supper club which used to be a walking group supper. But few of the group do any walking now so it has been resurrected as a supper club. The host provides the main course and the others all bring a contribution. It’s much more prescriptive than the veggie food group so we get a more balanced meal. I asked Chris to do a starter and she brought Stilton and Broccoli Soup. Gerry brought a mixed salad and Sarah did a bulgar wheat dish. I made a Moroccan stew of Aubergines, onions, red peppers, courgettes, tinned tomatoes, apricots and chickpeas flavoured with Ras el Hanout and some harissa. Katy and Colin brought a cheesecake and blackcurrants. It was all tasty. People chatted away together though there were only 7 of us. That’s a good number for our table.
Now I’ll have an early night with my book.
