The 1915 Canakkale Bridge
The “1915 Canakkale Bridge” is the longest suspension bridge in the world with a main span of 2.023 km. It is situated just south of the coastal towns of Lapseki and Gelubolu. Ithe bridge spans to the Dardanelles, about 10 km south of the Sea of Marmara. It crosses Turkey’s Dardanelles Strait, linking Europe and Asia. The country of Turkey is mainly in Asia. But part of it extends into Europe. The Dardanelles Strait is a thin band of water that separates the two parts.
The sight-seeing today is to the archaeological site of Troy or Ilion (located in Hisarlik) where it is famous for the Trojan War. Though the history and story are impressive, but disappointed that the Trojan horse was from the original movie. Images of ruin are boring. Hence the image of the world’s longest suspension bridge.
