A Mono Kind of Day
No cubes to be found around here, or at least not interesting ones. We woke in the dark this morning.(Daylight savings started yesterday) Dawn revealed dense fog. We had a date with Kathy this morning which meant we had to be ready to leave the house by 8:15. That proved to be fairly easy as I had been awake since 5, but as we still haven't quite mastered reprogramming the thermostat....since it was disabled by the so called inspector it was very cold. We got out the door in time and the fog cleared as we were driving over Fountaingrove, only to be replaced by clouds as we reached the flatlands again.
My blip is the view of the hills from the living room couch. It was perfectly mono straight out of the camera.without needing to be converted. It is difficult to tell in this light, but the branches of the oak tree overhanging the shot at the top are covered with little green leaf shoots.
It was a pleasure to see Kathy again. She pronounced my knee looking good, worked on the knotted up leg muscles which are the culprits fro preventing sleep at night loosened my neck and adjusted my back. She went over the exercises I'm doing and recommended a somewhat kinder, gentler way of doing them while still achieving the same results. Basically it amounts to incorporating them into my daily routine (such as it is) and not doing them all at once.
By the time we got home at 11, the clouds had closed in again and although it hasn't rained, it is very cold with a stiff breeze. John has been driving around doing errands I have been trying to get to my feet and walk around more.
We had dinner with Dana and Jim last night and watched the last part of the Oscars. The winner for the best documentary was 20 Days in Mariupol and the most memorable thing the director, Director, Mstyslav Chernov, said was that although it was the first Academy Award to go to Ukraine, he thought he was probably the first director to say that he wished he hadn't had to make that film. It's about a team of journalists, trapped in that city, struggling to continue documenting the atrocities of the war.
The only other notable thing I remember (I was in a semi-coma by then, induced by lack of sleep and a delicious dinner ) was Ariana Grande. What on earth was that dress she was wearing? A little research reveals that it was actually a very fitted dress with a pouffy matching cape which she didn't seem to be managing too well as she attempted to read the card on which the winner was printed. It stood out among the mostly black and silver form fitting gowns many with slits in interesting places. I felt my age watching these awards as I knew very little about most of the movies or most of the actors, Oppenheimer being the one exception.
Meg and Rick are back home now, and we miss them already....It was a good visit.
