Strathalbyn Railway Station
We have an enjoyable day. It was nice to wake up to cooler weather and the rain!! It has rained most of the day down here but has not deterred us from going out and about.
Our first stop has been the Railway station: Strathalbyn Railway Station built 1883 when the line from Victor Harbor to Strathalbyn was extended to Mt Barker Junction and Adelaide. At that time the 1867 horse tram line was converted to broad guage for steam engines.
The railway station is now the Toursist Information Centre and it is only used by Steam Ranger Historical railway trips between Mount Barker and Strathalbyn and Victor harbor.
We then drove down to Wellington and and then back up to Bremerton Winery for a spot of lunch before coming back to our Motel for a rest before we head out to tea.
