Camon - village of a hundred roses

Drove Mum into Mirepoix for her shampooing et mise en plié and left her in the charge of a fellow customer who seemed to have a smattering of English. When we collected her an hour and a half later Mum was able to tell us this lady's life story including the fact that she was getting married today for the third time ! Seems her English was quite good ! This afternoon we visited Camon a small village where every house was given a Rose tree by the Mairie for the front of their house allowing it to become part of the prestigious circle of "Plus Beaux Villages De France". The village has grown around the 10th century Abbey and is indeed very pretty. On to the church at Vals which has been built upon and into the rock on which it stands. The views from the top were lovely of the countryside around and yes we all managed all the way to the top despite tricky knees and a dicky ticker ! As we emerged from the church a wedding party spilled out onto the street from the Mairie and yes you've guessed - there was Mums new friend! Out to dinner later at our favourite restaurant in the village.
