The vegetable garden..

but no sign of Mr McGregor today.. nor Peter Rabbit (much to the relief of the owners I would imagine!

I went to visit this garden with friends.. it was open for charity and it was absolutely immaculate.. and stunning. The walled garden was spectacular.. made my 'patch' look under nourished and miserable to be honest.. but then I don't have two paid gardeners fully employed! There was a tennis court behind me when I took this picture and this is the view from the gate out of the court down one of the vistas. It was full of vegetables and flowers for picking for the house, and strawberries ripening by the dozen.. I can but dream (and enjoy it on open days!). Around the outside were beautiful old roses that smelt like heaven and then there was the house garden which was full of delphiniums and astrantia and alliums and more roses.. with a wonderful walk in the shade of ancient oaks along mown paths through meadow grasses. The air was a hum of bees and a swirl of swifts and swallows. Just a very special trip. I'm not jealous..(well.. not much!) but it was a lovely garden to visit for a good local charity.
