Caledonian Market Clock Tower

A striking sight in part of London I don't know at all well.

This is clock tower is all that remains of Caledonian Market, one of London's great cattle markets of the 19th century. It's on the site of Copenhagen Fields in Islington from where a great demonstration set off in 1834 in support of the Tolpuddle Martyrs.

Sadly, the tower is now badly in need of funds for refurbishment. The clock still works but volunteers have recently been stopped from climbing the tower to wind it because the fabric is unsafe.
