House Drama

Betsy was in a play at school this evening. Each year they have a drama competition were Year 10 students produce and direct a short play for each of the school houses. They have a prize for best performer, and best supporting performer, and a trophy for the overall winner.

Betsy auditioned a couple of months ago and was very excited to get a part in her house play, Same Difference.

All the acting was very good. The overall winner was Lord of the Flies which was so good it prompted Al to say bravely in the interval, 'that play we just saw, was that not really for children?' I think it was the pigs head in a stick and the screaming chants of, 'kill the pig, spill its blood!' that did it! The best performer went to the bit playing Jack who was quite petrifying.

I was very impressed with the standard especially as the students had done everything themselves. One performance was a shorter version of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. We are going to see the National's production of that in a week or two so we are extra excited about that now.
