Solar powered orchard

Another successful morning at Dervaig Community Orchard, completing the rabbit protection and mulching around all the fruit trees. It was another mild, sunny morning, although the clouds gathered around lunchtime and the rain started mid afternoon. 

We are very fortunate that one of our volunteers at the orchard is a bit of a whizz with solar power and off-grid energy and he has donated some solar panels excess to his requirements and has fitted them to the roof of our shelter. The main purpose of this is educational for the local primary school using the orchard as an outdoor classroom. However, we may also get some power from them to run some lighting within the shelter.
