The view from Mt. Parata

We rode out to the the far end of the island to walk up Mt. Parata, the highest peak in Vieques at 960 feet (290 meters). It's a very steep road that goes to a communication tower. They have built a nice observation deck and you can see both sides of the island from there. We had trudged up about a third of the way when someone coming down told us that there was a new trail to the top (the entrance wasn't marked but the trail was well marked)  We took that instead of the the hot road.
