Leviathan

So, that was quite an experience at the film festival this afternoon. It wasn't so much the visual as much as the aural that was completely full-on. Clanking chains, winches, anchors, hoisted nets, fish sloshing around on deck this way and that, and of course all the while the monstrous roar of the sea. Life on a fishing trawler in supreme close-up from all angles. Brutal. Yet completely authentic and one that won't be easy to forget in a hurry. No more screenings of Leviathan now at the festival but if it ever makes an appearance at your local independent/arthouse cinema it's well worth making an effort to see it.

And then after this afternoon's cinema trip I had to avoid the results of the opening stage of the Tour De France so I could watch the highlights. No spoilers here, but 'crazy' is as good a word as any to describe today's events. I love it whatever happens, the next three weeks are going to be just great.

Right, best have a bit of music. From monsters of the deep to the man inside your head.
