Creating an icon

We spent some time this morning visiting St Edmundsbury Cathedral.  What a magnificent place that is - a delightful blend of old and very modern.  I loved it.

I got involved with the artist creating this icon of the Mother and Child which should be finished this week and will be hung on the wall behind the easel.  All the gilding has been finished and she explained the whole process to me from visiting Italy to buy the wood through to finishing the whole image.
