‘‘Twas on the Monday morning..
I was torn between the Flanders and Swann song - the Gas-man cometh - and the Bricklayer’s Song by the Corries ( a musical adaptation of a Gerard Hoffnung story). However, as no one was injured, despite the fact that it was not the gas-man but the roofers that came, Flanders and Swann won out.
We’ve had a run of house issues in recent weeks, most noticeably the gas central heating. A couple of slates had come off the roof in the recent winds. And the heavy rains highlighted that something was blocking the rhones as water was pouring over onto the wall. So the (very busy) roofer was contacted and came today.
It was a lovely sunny morning - so much so the shorts came out. The roofers could not have had a better day and the repairs were sorted and the roof given the all clear. Some chimney pointing needed in due course.
I spent some time in the garden sorting out the chitting potatoes which were over-sprouting.
Tomorrow it is the turn of the electrician!
