A Summer Weekend

It is a fine summer weekend. Since Canada Day is this Monday, it is also a long weekend and one that marks the beginning of summer vacation. People are out walking, trying to find bargains or just strolling with a drink in hand. We are off to a reunion in Saskatchewan. This photo to represent today's challenge of walking was taken at one of our usual stops - a town called Lloydminster. It is a unique town in that part of it is in the province of Alberta and the rest in Saskatchewan. This has it's challenges, especially with pricing. For example, Alberta does not have a provincial sales tax, but Saskatchewan does, so the folks on the Saskatchewan side do not have to pay this tax. And other good news is that gas prices are the same for people living in either the province of Alberta side or Saskatchewan.
Now back on our way. We start seeing more pickups and bigger skies! My husband's family is from Saskatchewan, and each time we visit I am amazed at the sky. As we drive through very flat terrain, it is like being under a dome and seeing 360 degrees around. The sky is visible from the horizon in any direction. And you can see for miles...and miles.
