Methadone Kitty

I had to take Diesel to see the emergency vet first thing. He was yowling and hissing clearly in pain.

The short story goes like this. His bladder was full and he couldn’t wee. The vet gave him methadone and a sedative then massaged 150 mls of wee out of his bladder. She gave him a long acting antibiotic as he had red and white blood cells in his urine. Fortunately he wasn’t dehydrated.

I brought him home mid afternoon. He’s now got gabapentin added to his medication collection. He’s eaten a packet and a half of wet food since he came home and is behaving normally.

I’ve to take him back tomorrow if he’s suffering again. The next step would entail a catheter in place for 48 hours. I’m pleased I’m working currently. There is a possibility that the situation may not resolve and we may have to consider PHTS. But that would be an absolute last resort.

Consequently poor Will is very stressed with everything else that has been happening over the past few months.
