Muffle Kilns

A trip to Bovey Tracey today. These are two of the three remaining muffle kilns on the site of the Bovey Tracey Potteries. Pottery was manufactured here for over 200 years up until the mid 20th century. Muffle kilns can only be found at one other site in the UK at Stoke on Trent. A small museum housed in the building on the right of the photo documents the history of the potteries here and contains an extensive collection of pottery that was manufactured on the site.
