Savouring

Quick trip to Pets at Home for dog treats then to the market.

A bunch of local asparagus is £7.99 compared to £5 for a Spanish bunch.  The high price for an English bunch , I'm informed is due to the cost of heated glasshouses.  

Needless to say I'm using asparagus sparingly.  Yesterday added some to a frittata today some spears to risotto.  Le Creuset pan is very useful for risotto. ;-)

Was extremely mild today.  I believe that isn't going to last.

Finished reading The Pier Falls by Mark Haddon.  By strange coincidence it was one of the books chosen and discussed on Radio 4's A Good Read.  The short stories were described as 'dark'.  I completely agree.  Now reading The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O'Farrell based on the true story of Lucrezia di Cosimo de'Medici and her marriage to Alfonso Il d'Este, Duke of Ferrara.  It's a thick tome.
