Spent bloom of hibiscus moschuetos...
I just love the spent blooms of the perennial hibiscus moschuetos. This one is my favorite of many, 'Turn of the Century' which I shared here the other day with one of the blossoms wide open in full regalia. There are many buds on each plant, you can see 2 dark pink buds that will unfurl and open into the pink and white dinnerplate sized flowers. They put on quite a show. The lovely little yellowish seed pod on the left is starting to form where a previous blossom fell off. I will have enough seeds to grow a football field of these gorgeous flowers in all colors when the 50 that I planted from wee cuttings last year bloom!
