The Art of War
"The art of war teaches us to rely not on the likelihood of the enemy’s not coming, but on our own readiness to receive him; not on the chance of his not attacking, but rather on the fact that we have made our position unassailable."
- From the ancient Chinese military treatise, "The Art of War", written in 5th century BC
"Forms of Life are Numberless, I vow to save them all."
- From Zen Buddhism's "Impossible Boddhisattva Vows"
A battle is raging in the neighborhood. The stealth enemy has dug a subterranean maze of tunnels, attacking plants from both below and above. Despite protective metal cages the enemy decimates roots below, then pops up to the surface to chomp on grasses above.
What is a Buddhist gardener to do? Standby and watch plants suffer and die? Where is the Red Fox army when nature needs balancing? Regrettably,The Gophernator was called into action and two Geomyidae family members lost their lives in this most unfortunate war.
