Blackbird

A nice cycle around Sanday. Thrushes have been noted moving north through the isles as they migrate. I saw about 20 fieldfare, 25 redwings and lots of blackbirds. Only the blackbirds were approachable enough for a photo. Other birds- a short-eared owl, a hen harrier, kestrel, 30+ bar-tailed godwits, 28 shelduck, 8 skylarks, 4 great northern divers, 2 whooper swans etc. They were all pretty distant, especially as the tide was low and many were sitting on distant sands.
