Iris magnifica
After Iris bucharica, this is the easiest of the Juno Irises to grow. I have had plants out in the sand bed here for several years, one of which is in flower now. This one is planted in a deep polystyrene box. Exposed to all the weather , it is shorter and more upright than those potted and kept in the cold frame.
A work day. Six hours in the Kings kitchen, mostly washing up. Good exercise and in good company, busy enough for the level of staffing today. Before and afterwards Meg had two short walks, she may have strained something as she limped briefly while we were out this morning. I can't see anything wrong but we will take it gently for a while.
Fish and chips with Jamie and Clara, Tilda too, down at the seafront after dark. Blowing a bit. We sat in the landward side of a shelter to eat before retiring to mine for hot chocolate. Tilda has started a new job so may be here a bit less and Jamie and Clara head south on Saturday. After then - working Friday & Saturday - I will have a few quiet days at home before Ruth and Timmy come to stay over Easter.
