Wladyslaw Sikorski
During the Second World War W?adys?aw Sikorski was Prime Minister of the Polish Government in Exile and Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Armed Forces.
In 1943, following a stopover in Gibraltar the liberator aircraft in which he and his staff were travelling crashed into the sea, seconds after takeoff, killing all aboard except the pilot. Numerous conspiracy theories have persisted to this day.
This attractive monument was recently erected as part of the remodeling of Europa Point, at the southern tip of Gibraltar.
