Empty nest

Out for a bit of gardening today. MrKT thought he would check in on the beehive - only to find it a disaster zone. Bees all dead.
So sad - it looked like a very recent end and I’m sure I saw a few out flying earlier in the week.
We won’t find out what the cause was but probably not enough food and this on going damp and miserable weather.
This was a hive formed from a swarm found locally a few years ago.
