Lorna Doone Farm

A pretty crappy day: foot specialist is bringer of bad news re my arthritic toe/metatarsal joints. Luckily, foot specialist is also purveyor of expensive footwear solutions for people with arthritic toes. I leave his clinic approx £500 lighter, but with the promise that new shoes and their custom orthotic insoles will re-enable my running and mountain-climbing activities. At that price, they bloody better do.

In the evening we drove the van to Exmoor for a weekend of camping with our friends A+D+R in Doone Valley, Devon.

I've never read R D Blackmoore's Lorna Doone. This farm is marked on the Ordnance Survey Map as Lorna Doone Farm, so I guess it figures in the book, unless the name came later.

Either way, the farm buildings have seen better days; but there can be beauty in decay. Or so I tell my feet.
