The forecast of snow
changed to rain instead - I am
so very thankful

I was back on Highway 93 again this morning by 9 AM. I made a brief stop at the nearby McDonald's for coffee and a breakfast sandwich, then primed the GPS for today's trek.
I was grateful not to have to contend with snow but the day has been rather dreary for cloudy skies, cooler temperatures and some scattered showers.
I took my first photo outside the small town of McGill just a few miles north of Ely, Nevada. There are many stretches of farmland like this along my route today. However, most of the landscape is high desert/ semi-arid with sagebrush and tumbleweeds with a backdrop of mountains. There was gusting wind at some points which really made the tumbleweeds tumble - they blew across the road in front of me and I drove over some. (they crunch when you hit them)
The 93 was light for traffic today. The sky was ominous throughout my drive. Light and shadow skipped about. I watched the black clouds hovering over the valley in my rear-view mirror and thought I was happy to be heading away from them. It wasn't much of a day to be taking photos.
My second photo and the last in Nevada is a shot of Jackpot, Nevada looking south. I stopped just before climbing the hill above the town. It is just on the border of Idaho. Jackpot is known for its casinos - there's really nothing else.
Once into Idaho I was driving past farmland with cattle grazing and farmers just starting to work their fields again. Grass is starting to green up and trees are beginning to show some colour. Most is still in its winter colours. The light rain was welcome, I'm sure, but doesn't encourage me to stop for photos.
I arrived into Twin Falls, Idaho before 2. I made a beeline for one of my favourite restaurant chains for a late lunch. At 3 I checked into my motel and here I will stay until morning. It's a chilly, damp 44 F/ 7 C and I doubt it will make the max the weatherman forecast for today.
