Buff Arches

This is a moth called "Buff Arches" (Habrosyne pyritoides) . I put the moth trap out last night, and caught 97 individual moths, of 39 different species. Not as good as previous years, but much better than last year, and the best catch so far in 2013.

Buff Arches is common in England and Wales, but is rare in Scotland and it flies from late June to early August. Its larvae feed on Bramble and Dewberry, and sometimes Raspberry. It occurs in woodland, scrubby grassland and other places where Bramble grows (like my garden).
