An Afternoon at the Cricket
The first time I watched professional cricket was at Gloucestershire's Nevil Road ground in Bristol in early summer 1980 towards the end of my first year as an undergraduate. Back in those days Sunday afternoons meant the John Player Sunday League (played over 40 overs per side), now it's the Friends Life t20 - a rather shorter game with rather more razzamatazz.
Today's event at Nevil Road was a rather one-sided affair with Gloucestershire comfortably beating Worcestershire - the blip is from the Worcestershire run chase.
