HAD 2 B 1?

      I couldn't imagine a whole week on a Canal with nary a sight of a Lock.  I have no idea which Lock, or where - BUT - for some odd reason the job's half done and not a single sighting of a Jerra.  If you're really really lucky you can catch another boat coming in the opposite direction.
      This has one or two advantages.  If you're lucky the water will be already at your height, irrespective of whether you're up-bound, or down-bound. - AND - if you're REALLY lucky you'll also arrive before they've closed the lock Gates.  I wonder if that's why these are only half shut/open? (Like the famous Glass, 1/2 full or 1/2 empty).
