Packed

Well, there it is. The front wheel is off, the bike packed into the boot of the car and the panniers, full of dirty washing, placed on top of it ready to drive home.

Had the last full english breakfast until next year and then cycled back to Wormley. Took us about an hour.

So, another cycling holiday to look back on. Not the best one we've done as far as scenery and distance was concerned. Too many big towns to negotiate, and while there was some lovely scenery as we went through Essex and Cambridgeshire, Luton and Dunstable were horrible riding - too many 'A' roads and too much traffic.

Some of the distances were a bit extreme as well. The most we've ever done in one day previously was about forty eight miles - we exceeded this twice on this holiday.

However, now it's over and something to look back on, it was quite funny. Riding along muttering under the breath "this is too far; why are we doing this? My legs hurt; mutter, mutter, grumble, grumble"; it did seem like it was too much, but it will be something to talk about next year as we are hopefully wobbling along trying to cover a mere twelve miles in a day by having lots of coffee stops and long lunches in the sunshine in a beautiful part of the country.

Roll on next year!

If you have been following the details of the holiday, I hope you have enjoyed it and I haven't bored you too much with details.
