Burnt fields
Enjoyed a fabulous weekend camping with friends at Cloud Farm on Exmoor. We all had some much needed R&R, and lots of fun. Strolled out for what felt like a fairly aimless walk at the time, punctuated by lots of ice cream and sweet stops to keep the children happy en route. Turned out we walked an impressive 7 miles.
This shot was taken on the brow of a hill close to the coast line outside Lynmouth. The scrub had been burned and is a nice contrast to the small child (Leyla) standing on the sky line. 3 out of 4 adults present had a (different) explanation for why the planned burning of the heath took place. So is it to encourage regeneraration, to slow down plant growth,or to prevent fires later in the year? Or maybe for none of these reasons?....
