Sails and Pines by Paul Signac, 1896
I went to a lovely exhibition on Neo-impressionism, Colours of the Mediterranean. This focused on a group of neo-impressionists who spent time in the Mediterranean (mainly the South of France) and were inspired by the bright colours and light. And from the careful pointillism of Seurat developed various freer styles. Some really beautiful works on display. I particularly liked this painting by Signat who spent time near St Tropez.
