Acer leaves
Easter Sunday brings warm sunshine, and while it’s breezy, for the first time in days the afternoon is dry. It really feels like spring and I’m loving the way the house is now filled with light and warmth. Those dark days of winter twilight when the sun made no appearance above our hill now seem a distant memory.
It seems the acer trees have come into leaf almost overnight, tiny deeply lobed leaves, held close, still crumpled from the bud, waiting to burst fully open. Their colours seem more autumnal than vernal, a reminder of the continuity of seasons and just how quickly time has passed.
We don’t go out, but prepare an Easter meal for neighbours - a simple roast and Terry brings the desert, so it’s an easy task.
And so it’s another garden blip today, the acer leaves caught still amongst the swaying branches.
