Matt’s birthday! We caught the train up to Clifton Down for firstly some breakfast (BTP) then the cinema for Dune 2. It was bright sunshine when we left home, by the time we walked to the cinema it was pouring with torrential rain and strong enough wind to completely break my umbrella.
The movie was good, lovely to watch it at the Everyman. So comfy and actually warm enough (rare for a cinema). I ordered an iced coffee to my seat. So fancy.
Raining again when we left but we ran for the train so didn’t notice it hugely. It had eased off by the stop before ours, which we were very smug about, until it was replaced almost instantly by the most insane hail I’ve ever seen. We had no choice but to get off the train, so had to just leg it down into the tunnel and then hide there for about 15 minutes until it stopped. There were rivers of hailstones flowing down the slope past us, and when we did walk home it was very gingerly on a blanket of ice.
In the evening we went out for a drink with the gang, the Vic’s garden was closed so went to the Star & Dove instead. It was quiet enough to have a conversation so actually ended up being nicer. Real shame they’re closing, fingers crossed someone takes it on.
