Scraping the barrel today for a blip. This pigeon was enjoying a snooze on the branch this afternoon in the never ending rain. 
The plumber came about 11am and was very good. He had my freezer out to follow the pipe and the blockage. He cut the pipe and  got a fair amount of gunge out then got to the main drain and could go no further with his tools. He then headed to the merchants to get more pipe and connectors.  He had his camera along the pipe and it being cast iron, it is corroded and blocked part of the pipe too. He phoned a colleague as he thought it needed a different tool than he had. Turns out he needs to go above the blockage and drive a rotating blade down to break it all up, which means cutting a hole in my kitchen wall! 
Two hours later he left, saying he would phone the office and get them to book me in with his colleague. Nothing is ever simple, although I can't fault him and his work. 

Had some lunch, got back into my pj's and switched on iplayer.......
