Temperance

In amongst various bits and bobs that have accumulated over the years I have this badge (missing its pin). I acquired it after an old aunt died and I imagine it belonged to one of her old aunties. I remember she and my Mum used to tell tales when I was a child of the old aunties and that side of the family, all born around the 1870; there was talk of Sankey Hymns too. Stuff I never really understood and of course there is no one to ask now. My grandfather, the brother of the old aunties, was staunchly tee total, and that was passed down to his sons(my uncles), although I think avoidance of the demon drink stopped at that generation!
