Plaster circa 1950
Drove over to IKEA for our appointment with the wardrobe planner. It was nice and quiet and we were able to put some ideas together and work out some prices. Lots of decisions to be made about height, configuration, colour and internal storage. After talking to the planner and having a wander around the showroom, we came up with an amended design. Apparently the computer designer program will only let you put together valid options. Let's hope so. Stopped for a cinnamon bun and coffee before going home via a DIY store to pick up paint testers.
I contacted a few plasterers this afternoon and one came round to give an estimate for the required work if we are going to be able to paint the walls rather than wallpaper and then paint. Although the walls didn't look too bad to us, the plasterer pointed out surface cracks and ominous areas that made different noises when tapped. The house was built immediately post WWII so perhaps its not surprising that it is a bit bashed around. We await his quote. More plasterers due to visit tomorrow.
Work again tomorrow but it's been good to make some progress on the bedroom after years of prevarication.
