Inspirational Athlete!

Renata sent this photo of Kalyn being presented with the Terry Fox Most Inspirational Female Athlete of the Year Award at the SFU Athletics Gala last night! Her volleyball coach presented the award. The photo was from the SFU Athletics and SFU Volleyball instagram posts. The text to go with the photo:
Kalyn has been a leader both on and off the court for the volleyball team for all 6 of her seasons at SFU. She has been the floor captain since her sophomore year, earned GNAC All-Academic honors for four years and was a GNAC Honorable Mention in 2023. She constantly exemplifies what it means to be self-less, always stepping up to say what needs to be said and do the tasks no one else wants to do. She has been a rock for the volleyball team.

Of course we're all very proud of Kalyn. This is a special award in honour of the inspirational Canadian hero Terry Fox, who ran 5,375 kilometres to raise money for cancer research in 1980 after having a leg amputated because of cancer. Unfortunately he didn’t make it all the way to the Pacific Ocean because the cancer spread to his lungs. He was a student at SFU when he was diagnosed with cancer.
