A "99", Please...
Sunday at Glastonbury for me (Annie) - Chris went home in the wee small hours of last night to be with the girls. A bit odd to be there without Chris, but it did mean I could have a sleep in until 13:30 without Mr. Fidget around. :)
A great opportunity to browse some other bits of the Glastonbury ground for me today. For a few days, the Glastonbury Festival becomes the third largest town in the South West of England, with a temporary population of 150,000 - 200,000. It's an enormous plot though, at around 1,000 acres of musical stages, circus acts, food, bars, nightclubs and camping - it only rarely feels really crowded (usually when one big act ends and people rush to another stage). The blip was taken at one such busy time, by "The Other Stage" just after the Editors had finished playing. Ice cream, anyone?
For a really good visualisation of the size of the site, try the BBC's "How Big Really" page.
I went into the circus area to watch some of the truly random performing arts acts. Favourites were an exquisitely dressed showgirl sweetly singing tunes from the likes of Nirvana and Radiohead, and some "Grannies" who danced to tunes starting in the 1940s and ending up getting down to Fat Boy Slim. I saw the cardboard model of Glastonbury Tor (constructed by the community over the past 3 days) demolished in a symbolic signing off from the festival. I then wandered off for a cider and a Henna tattoo. Bliss!
For my lovely friend Ruth and I the day finished by watching the Smashing Pumpkins, then (to my horror) a bit of Mumford and Sons (they were annoyingly good), finishing up with the very bouncy Sub Focus in the dance tent. Midnight struck as I sat in a field, with a great friend, listening to fun music with a glass of wine.
For me (Chris) a very late night, home at 3.30am! Was good to see my girls though and at least I saw the Grand Prix live and then the first of the new series of Top Gear!!!
