Glasgow School of Art fires-investigation

I have spent several hours in our local library catching up on the
Glasgow Herald series investigating the two successive fires which burnt down Glasgow School of Art, an historic and architectural icon.
( I used to work on the Glasgow Herald but no longer buy it.)
It made depressing reading.
It’s clear plans to rebuild it have been mothballed and inertia has set in . A rebuild looks extremely unlikely with each passing year.
And the core of the problem is bad management going back over a decade or more.
As for the cause of the second fire. I think it’s now agreed it was arson.
Oh yes, I graduated from Glasgow School of Art as a mature student and saw first-hand the cavalier attitude by both staff and students to this building.
We were allowed to bring anything into the college without any check made. I used old television sets for my degree show which were on 24/7. They were a potential fire hazard and would not have passed any rudimentary fire check.
Add to this there is the ongoing debate on what should an art school in the 21st be about? There is no consensus.
