Wynford Vaughan-Thomas memorial

On the mountain road from Llanidloes to Machynlleth you can find this memorial to the broadcaster (and more) Winford Vaughan-Thomas. It’s in a wild bit of country and it’s an extraordinary drive.

You also pass through the ex mining settlement of Dylife, once home to 2000 people and now probably less than 50. Also home to the Star Inn, once claimed as Terry Jones’ favourite pub.

Anyway, Snowdon and Snowdonia (Eryri) can be seen from here on a clear day. Good luck with that!
