Casualty

Such a beautiful little bird. We have two feeders out all year for the hummers, and I was very relieved that its tongue wasn’t hanging out (a sign of mouldy sugar water). Not sure what happened, but the males are always fighting and chasing each other, and this guy was found right under the feeder, so who knows? I feel a little guilty , as last year I saw a dead one on the road that was run over by a car, and thought I’d really like to find one intact, for my shed. Now I have one, and I’m wishing it was still alive. Good lesson in being careful for what you’re wishing for…. Brings me no joy at all…
