The Lozarithm Lens

Lacock Abbey NT (Friday 5th April 2024)

So far, any snake's head fritillaries (Fritillaria meleagris) in the Woodland Garden have yet to surface, and this led me to overlook that they had appeared all over the place in the area. When the realisation came I headed for the nearest place I knew that had them, namely Lacock Abbey. I took my ultra wide-angle manual lens and my ultra-zoom bridge camera, but soon found how difficult it was to get a suitable composition and exposure at 11mm full-frame and so mostly used the 24-2000 mm P900. It has a macro setting but doesn't focus at close quarters, but gave better results on this occasion. The blip was taken at 89.2mm, which is the equivalent to 500mm full-frame.

With thanks to Miranda1008 for reviving Wild Flower Week from this week.

With thanks also to BikerBear for Flower Friday.

This is actually about a kind of Pennsylvanian butterfly rather than the plant, but near enough...
