Great Black Backed Gull

They day improved with aging and after dinner it was quite pleasant, so I got my wellies on and went out to the moor where our sheep used to graze, and where there is a big gull colony. As soon as I approached they were wheeling around my head - Herring Gulls, Lesser Black Backed Gulls, Great Black Backed Gulls, and an occasional Bonxie (Great Skua). This shot is a Greater BB Gull - about the only way to distinguish them from the Lesser BB Gull is by the pink legs (the latter have yellow legs). A bit of a bruiser this species, but I didn't go too close.
