Swim Or Sink?

When you're at or near
the head of the queue
life is First Class. You
know you'll be OK.
You'll get a seat,
with a cushion,
and you'll sail away. Yay!

Stuck in the middle?
Don't fret. Your face
still fits. Things might be tight
but there's space.
You'll be alright. Great!

Stragglers? You'll
struggle to fit in. You're
bringing up the rear there.
Not the best position
and a seat's not guaranteed.
You may have to remain behind
with the washed up seaweed. Oh!

But if there's an old tub
and a boatman willing to turn out for you
all well and good. He might make it.
But will likely sink. Shall we send him?
Or do you want to chance a swim?
