Historic bridge…..

….. maybe not by overseas standards but bridges like this built in the latter part of the 19 century played a crucial part in the development of Australia’s agricultural industries.
This one between Hampton and Lithgow enabled produce, mainly wool to be transported more efficiently from the Oberon region to the railway at Lithgow. Its timber truss construction is supported by sandstone abutments with a central concrete pier (originally stone but replaced 40 years ago after a flood).
I’d like to think isbi is marvelling at the 1890s engineering masterpiece but I suspect she’s just taking in the scenery.
