A Game Of Two Penalties
With a win needed to clinch the title and promotion, Yeovil managed to shot themselves in the foot this afternoon, missing two or three good early chances before giving away two goals with a needless penalty and an under hit back pass in the first half.
Early in the second half we missed a penalty of our own, created lots of other chances then finally scored with 10 minutes to go.
In injury time we heard that our nearest rivals had conceded a goal to draw which meant if we could score we’d be champions. We immediately did just that only for it to be ruled out for an offside that no one but the linesman could see.
We kept pressing for the equaliser and in the last seconds of the game and with all our defenders committed to attack, Worthing broke clear to score a third with the last kick of the game. It was certainly a dramatic and exciting game and the upshot was that we just need one point from our remaining 4 games.
The collage shows our keeper going the wrong way for their successful penalty (top) and their keeper about to save ours.
