Ostrich or emu?...hate crime

No…it’s a rhea, a South American  ostrich, says the owner, Laura, who runs a smallholding specialising in rare breeds.
 
I forget the number of times I have been asked: “Where are you from?”
Under Scotland’s new hate crime act this would be considered an offence  and I could report it to the police. ( I kid you not!)
Well, I heard the other day that one of the first such cases is already in the pipeline. A young dental hygienist working in a practise south of Glasgow asked a patient where he/she/they (see I am catching on to this new world we live in) was from.
He/she/they reported the dental hygienist to the police, and she is currently suspended from work.
I wish our politicians showed the same enthusiasm for tackling silent electric cars which are proving a menace to walkers.
This afternoon while out walking up our narrow country lane, one such car approached from behind. What with the wind gusting at least 40mph and my woolly hat covering my ears I could not hear the electric car until it was literally a few feet away. This is not an isolated incident. Others report similar problems.
