Den Burn

This stream comes out eventually in the harbour area. Until around 15 years ago it used to flood here and onto the neighbouring roads and into cellars. The Council put some sandbags on the left bank to prevent it flooding here.

Just past this point it goes underground. In order to prevent the flooding the tunnel must have been cleared of detritus that had built up in the tunnel over the time. Despite all the rain we have had recently it has never looked likely to burst the bank here.
