Tres joilie

We had a delicious and relaxing breakfast at our hotel. Then walked back to the airport terminal to collect our hire car. Having successfully navigated the Bordeaux ring road we were in the beautiful French countryside.

The day was spent walking in villages, eating a rustic but delicious lunch and visiting this chateau garden filled with medicinal plants, flowers, vegetables and fruit trees.

Afterwards we relaxed at a cafe in one of the old railway stations along the path of a railway which has been transformed into a cycling route. It felt incredibly warm in the sunshine for early April.

Our overnight accommodation was at a chambre d’hote in one of the local vineyards. Surrounded by vines and woodland, it was most peaceful of places to sleep.
