Washing up

... after a lovely supper with friends. A busy day today - strimming in the vineyard, shopping, cleaning, watching L cook three divine curries and witnessing Serena leaving Wimbledon.
What do I think about her shock departure? Well, Sabine Lisicki was brilliant, never gave up and has the most genuine smile in tennis and I'm pleased it won't be the repitition of the odds-on favourite marmelising the shell-shocked opposition in the final, but on the other hand what a great and gracious champion Serena Williams is. I can't remember another player this week who congratulated the winner so warmly, who waited til her opponent was ready to leave so courteously, who lived up to the etiquette of Wimbledon tennis with such respect. Federer tried to but failed, Williams succeeded.
